Long Weekending in Savannah

Savannah, GA

This weekend Jeff and I spent a long weekend away in Savannah to celebrate our 5-year dating anniversary. It was my first time in Savannah and I really enjoyed it. We stayed at a B&B, which was a lovely experience and it was so nice to spend some quality time together.

We headed up early Friday morning and our first stop was a round of golf at Bacon Park Golf Course. It was perfect weather for golf (much better than the Florida heat).

After enjoying our time out on the course, we headed to The Amethyst Garden Inn to check-in. We were  greeted warmly and the old Victorian mansion was beautiful. Our room was perfect for us and I really enjoyed staying here throughout the weekend. There was so much history and character, the service was wonderful and breakfast was a treat. Not only was the food good but we enjoyed dining and chatting with the other guests each morning. We will definitely be back!

Once we were settled in, we went to the Crystal Beer Parlor for dinner and drinks, a casual spot. We had a crab dip appetizer and burgers, all delicious!

After dinner, we went on one of Savannah’s many ghost tours. It was really cool to hear about the spooky history of the city but I’m not going to lie, I was a bit freaked out going to bed that night!

Saturday morning, we were up bright and early for breakfast and then decided to check out Forsyth Park and the weekly farmers market.

We decided to rent some bikes to explore the city for the afternoon. We rented from Savannah on Wheels and it was the best decision ever, they were so helpful! They mapped out a path for us that allowed us to see all 24 squares! It was so much fun to ride around and stop to explore or take a break wherever we wanted. We stopped for lunch at Zunzi’s which was another great decision, and a must for lunch whilst visiting Savannah!

After returning the bikes and a quick nap, we headed to River Street. First was drinks at The Bohemian’s incredible rooftop bar then we had our anniversary dinner at Vic’s on the River. The food was fantastic!

Sunday was a little more low key after our busy Saturday. We relaxed in our room until check-out and then headed down to River Street again. It was a bit of a rainy day but we had to pick up some Pralines from River Street Sweets for the drive home!

We walked around a bit more and had lunch at The Shrimp Factory, another great meal! Seriously, everything we ate in Savannah was sooo good, I recommend all of these restaurants! It was a great trip and I think we managed to see almost everything we could possibly want to while we were there. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend our anniversary!

Savannah looks SO neat. I think I would be a little freaked out about the ghost tour, too, but would be so interested by it, too!

    • It was slightly creepy but the historical stories were so cool to hear about! Next time I may go for the family friendly tour instead of the adults only, it may be a little less freaky!
