This weekend I had the opportunity to try a spot I have been dying to get to: The Sanctum Cafe near Downtown Orlando. My friends have raved about their coffee and gluten-free options so it has been on my radar and I finally got a chance to see what it was all about.
According to their website, they are a one stop shop in Orlando for delicious coffee, espresso & tea, non-GMO and Organic Food, Craft Beer & Wine, & what have been described as “the best freakin’ smoothies in the whole world”. They’re a vegetarian restaurant with most options being vegan and the majority of the menu is also gluten-free. They were founded on the idea that healthy food can also be wildly well prepared. Check out more of their story.
I went for an early lunch on Saturday and although they were done serving breakfast, we started with some coffee and cookies. Desert before the meal, heck yes! The coffee was definitely worth all the hype, it did not disappoint!
I was so impressed by the menu, there were only 2 or 3 dishes that weren’t gluten free, I was in heaven! For lunch I had a half salad of the day – the arugula and date salad with about a million other delicious veggies in it, and the soup of the day – creamy mushroom and wild rice. Both were soooo good, fresh, light but filling and flavorful!
If you are looking for a vegetarian and/or gluten free restaurant or you just simply enjoy food that’s good and good for you, you must try The Sanctum. And don’t miss the coffee! I can’t wait to get back for breakfast!
