Show Us Your Books {June 2017}

I thought I would get through more books this month at the beach and by the pool but no such luck…the ones I did read/listen to were all 4 or 5 stars so I guess it was quality over quantity! Linking up for Steph and Jana for the June book reviews! I Liked My Life by Abby Fabiaschi – 5 stars  Soooo good. This story is heart breaking and heart warming at the same time. For a debut novel, it was very well written. I listened to this book on Audible and never wanted to step away from listening, it really pulls you in to their lives! Each chapter is told from three points of view: Maddie, a wife and mother who really liked her […]

Show Us Your Books {May 2017}

Linking up with Steph and Jana for Show Us Your Books. This was a good month for books. I would recommend all of these! The Marriage Pact by Michelle Richmond – 4 stars Received from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. A newlywed couple gets themselves sucked into a secret, dark society. It’s equal parts creepy, intriguing and unbelievable. Wasn’t sure how I felt about the ending, it seemed like a let down but I didn’t exactly hate it. Overall, a great story because it really sucks you in. I stayed up a few nights much later than I should have because I didn’t want to put it down! Everything You Want Me to Be by Mindy Mejia – 4 stars Received from Netgalley […]

Show Us Your Books {April 2017}

It’s that time of month where my To-Read list grows and grows! Here’s what I’ve been reading lately: Watching Edie by Camila Way – 3 stars Received from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. This book was disturbing in many ways, and I thought that I had it figured out but I didn’t. It’s about Heather and Edie, high school friends who had a strangely intense relationship for not knowing each other very long and whose friendship ended traumatically. Now in their thirties they are back in each others lives as Edie becomes a single mom. I really could not relate to either of the two and I went back and forth on which I disliked more or thought was crazier. It was a […]

5 Books to Read this Spring

Here’s some of my favorite recent reads: The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George Received from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review. Loved, loved, loved this novel! It has it all: romance, friendship, dreamy destinations, beautiful insights into human emotions. It’s a wonderful read, especially for book lovers! I liked all  of the characters, and characters they were! They were eccentric but lovable, kind of like townies. The protoganist Perdu, runs a literary apothecary and believes in the healing power of books. Although he frustrated me sometimes being too dramatic, I enjoyed his journey to heal himself. We learn about his late lover through her memoirs and at first I didn’t like her at all but she did grow on me. Overall, […]

Show Us Your Books {October}

Let’s talk about books! Here’s what I’ve read over the past few months: First Comes Love by Emily Giffin 4 stars I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. I really enjoyed this one. It was a light, easy read but a page turner at the same time. The story is told from the two very different perspectives of sisters who experienced a family tragedy. At first, I had a hard time relating to either them but they both grew on me. In the end, I liked the way it all worked out and the central themes of this book. I think Emily Giffin is always a safe bet.   All the Missing Girls by Miranda Megan 4 […]

What I’ve Been Reading (May)

It’s time for Show Us Your Books! Here’s the books I’ve read since the last link-up, in order of my favorite to least favorite: No One Knows by J.T. Ellison  4 out of 5 stars I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.   This is one of the first books I’ve read that almost lives up to it’s reputation of “a mystery as thrilling as The Girl on the Train”, almost but not quite. I really enjoyed the book, I didn’t want to put it down and really wanted know what happened next. The twists in it also took my complete surprise. I really liked the main character Aubrey, until the end. I wasn’t a huge fan of […]

Literary Ladies Book Club: The Love That Split the World

I’m linking up with Kristen, Kari & Kay for the Literary Ladies Book Club and this month we read The Love That Split the World by Emily Henry. I hadn’t heard of the book prior to this, but a pretty cover always gets me and my love for YA was revived recently so I was excited to give it a try. This book follows the story of Natalie Cleary through her last few weeks of high school and the summer before she goes off to college. She lives in a town called Union, Kentucky which definitely has the small town vibe.  As Natalie plans to enjoy her last summer at home, strange things begin happening…she begins to see glimpses of a different world around her […]

What I’ve Been Reading…

It’s time to link up with Steph and Jana for another edition of Show Us Your Books and I have a confession to make: I may be slightly obsessed with getting the Audible Daily Deals. I just can’t stop! Through this, I’ve found a couple of good reads and a couple of duds. Here’s what I read/listened to this month: Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple 5/5 stars on Goodreads I had this book on my nightstand for months, I reached the maximum amount of library renewals on it but I’m so glad I finally took the time to read it before sending it back. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. It was an entertaining satire on Seattle culture and […]

Winter Reads

Somehow I only managed to finish three books in the last few months…I read pretty much every night but somehow don’t finish many books, I need to stop trying to read so many at once! I’ve finally signed up for an Audible Membership and have realized that I can finish books so much faster that way! BTW does anyone else think it would be so amazing if you could sync your Goodreads to-read list with your audible wish list? Anyways, here’s a recap of the few books I’ve read since my last Recent Reads update. Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter Must read! This was a recommendation from one of my favorite blogs for book reviews: Anchored to Sunshine, and it did not disappoint.  This was […]

Recent Reads

Growing up, I was always an avid reader. I spent way more time inside reading a book for hours than playing outside. At some point as a teenager, I stopped reading for fun. It took me a good year out of school, after the tons of books I had to forcibly read in high school and college, to starting reading for pleasure again. But I’m back! And it feels good!  I’ve decided to do the Semi-Charmed Winter 2015 Book Challenge and I’m super excited about it! This is my first book challenge and it’s a great way for me to find books that I maybe wouldn’t usually pick up because, as you can see below, I tend to gravitate towards thrillers. I haven’t figured out […]
