Friday Favorites: June 2017

Oh man, it has been a rough week. I had some dental work done on Monday and have been struggling ever since. Thankfully, the weekend is almost here and although it never seems to stay that way, I don’t have too much planned. I’m looking forward to some rest, just trying to stay positive and count my blessings. On that note, here’s some favorites from this month: 1. Father’s Day We had a simple yet very special Father’s Day this year. We started with breakfast out with Jeff’s grandfather and at night we had one big, blended family dinner at Chuy’s. We are so lucky to have three supportive dads to celebrate. 2. New Restaurants I have been all about trying new restaurants lately. I […]

The Sanctum Cafe

This weekend I had the opportunity to try a spot I have been dying to get to: The Sanctum Cafe near Downtown Orlando. My friends have raved about their coffee and gluten-free options so it has been on my radar and I finally got a chance to see what it was all about. According to their website, they are a one stop shop in Orlando for delicious coffee, espresso & tea, non-GMO and Organic Food, Craft Beer & Wine, & what have been described as “the best freakin’ smoothies in the whole world”. They’re a vegetarian restaurant with most options being vegan and the majority of the menu is also gluten-free. They were founded on the idea that healthy food can also be wildly well […]

Link Love 6.16.17

I finally caught up on TONS of blog reading this week, my Bloglovin’ feed is finally zeroed out woohoo! So, for Friday Favorites I’m sharing some posts I loved: Life Lessons We Learned from College Interns on Cupcakes and Cashmere – a great reminder to take chances, follow your passion and prioritize relationships. Audrey Hepburn’s Former Mansion is for sale according to Elle Decor and it’s magical. Especially the living room library. My future dream home… Burnout to Bliss: How to Organize Your Email from Bloggers Get Social – as terrifying as it sounds, I think I should declare email bankruptcy. I’ve never thought of it like that before but I have over 10,000 emails to clear out (crazy, I know) and the only way may […]

Show Us Your Books {June 2017}

I thought I would get through more books this month at the beach and by the pool but no such luck…the ones I did read/listen to were all 4 or 5 stars so I guess it was quality over quantity! Linking up for Steph and Jana for the June book reviews! I Liked My Life by Abby Fabiaschi – 5 stars  Soooo good. This story is heart breaking and heart warming at the same time. For a debut novel, it was very well written. I listened to this book on Audible and never wanted to step away from listening, it really pulls you in to their lives! Each chapter is told from three points of view: Maddie, a wife and mother who really liked her […]

3-Day Weekending in Siesta Key

There is a reason that Siesta Key has been voted America’s #1 Beach – such a great place to spend a long weekend. It’s a beautiful beach with tons of activities, the most delicious places to eat, great happy hours and a large supply of vacation rentals for both couples and families. We’ve been a few times and love going back. This past weekend we stayed with my family for a long weekend celebrating my sister’s 14th birthday and although we had some unfortunate and uncharacteristic rainy weather it was still a great trip! Where We Stayed  You MUST stay in Siesta Key Village – it’s the best part of the Key! We always stay in this area when we go, it’s on the tip […]

Girl Chat: Summer Staples

I’m linking up with Emily for a little Girl Chat today talking all about Summer Staples! I love chatting about this today because one – as I’ve mentioned I’ve got some serious summer vibes going, and two – it’s my Friday and I have a three day weekend at the beach planned, so summer essentials are definitely on the mind! 1st up is this Origins A Perfect World Moisturizer. I’ve been using this every morning. It’s perfect because it has SPF 40 so I wear it both under my makeup and as sunscreen for a beach/pool day. It’s a little thick but is really great for refreshed, glowing-like skin. Like any Florida girl, sandals, tank tops and shorts are most definitely summer staples. Old Navy […]

Comfort Food: Honey Dijon Pork Chops

This is one of my easiest recipes to throw together, yet one of my husband’s favorite meals with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots! With the gloomy, rainy weather today, I’m in the mood for some comfort food and this is a simple fix! I thought I’d share in case anyone else is having a gloomy day. Ingredients: 6 thinly sliced, boneless pork chops 1/4 cup dijon mustard 1/4 cup (half stick) of butter, melted 3 tablespoons honey Salt & Pepper Garlic Powder Directions: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sprinkle pork chops with salt, pepper and garlic powder on both sides a place in a 9×9 baking dish. Whisk together melted butter, honey and mustard. What’s New {June 2017}

Happy 1st day of June! Andddd it’s the first day of hurricane season, eek!! FYI hurricane supplies are tax free this weekend, take advantage! May was a super busy month, lots of activities! I’m linking up with Kristen and Gretchen to share all of last months happenings: Took my little sister to her first concert and an old time favorite for me – Blink 182! Such a blast!! A Sunday beach trip with the most gorgeous weather. We went to Coconuts, the place to be on a Sunday in Cocoa Beach! Jeff and I made an attempt to see the last Wishes fireworks show ever at Magic Kingdom….but my lovely, thoughtful husband (who I appreciate for trying to make this date night magical) did not […]

Memorial Day Weekending

This weekend was THE BEST. 3-day weekends should occur at least once a month. I was a little sluggish today at work though trying to recover from all the fun and sun 🙂 But I wasn’t the only one so it’s okay! Friday night the pups had a play date! I went out to dinner and drinks with friends at World of Beer and we sat outside so the fur babies could join. One of my friends just got a puppy so they made a new friend too. I had this amazing Pink Lemonade cider while we there – sooo tasty. Afterwards, we hung around for the movie in the park at Lake Eola. It was cool but there were a lot of people and […]
