3-Day Weekending in Siesta Key

There is a reason that Siesta Key has been voted America’s #1 Beach – such a great place to spend a long weekend. It’s a beautiful beach with tons of activities, the most delicious places to eat, great happy hours and a large supply of vacation rentals for both couples and families. We’ve been a few times and love going back. This past weekend we stayed with my family for a long weekend celebrating my sister’s 14th birthday and although we had some unfortunate and uncharacteristic rainy weather it was still a great trip!

Where We Stayed

You MUST stay in Siesta Key Village – it’s the best part of the Key! We always stay in this area when we go, it’s on the tip of the key; a little hub of vacation condos or houses, restaurants and a much less crowded area of the beach. This time, we rented a large condo – The Mahi – from Siesta Key Luxury Rentals. It was spacious (plenty of room for 8 of us), very clean, and about a 2 minute walk to both the beach and village restaurants. I would definitely recommend booking a rental through this company.

Where We Ate

On the way in we had lunch at The Boatyard. It’s right on the water before you go over the bridge to get on Siesta Key. It’s a perfect place to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather and water.

Our first stop after checking in was Daquiri Deck Happy Hour – 2 for 1 frozen daiquiris in every flavor you can imagine!

Next was the hubs favorite – oyster happy hour at SKOB. They also have a full menu of great food for the non oyster lovers like me 🙂

Birthday Dinner was at The Lobster Pot – a splurge but excellent seafood!

Our absolute favorite restaurant is Bonjour French Cafe where we had breakfast (twice!) and never miss on a trip to the Key. The best part: Gluten Free crepes!!

What We Did

We spent a good amount of time at the condo playing games, doing puzzles and sipping drinks due to the rain but when it wasn’t raining we spent our time in the clear blue ocean water or relaxing on the beach. The guys went fishing practically all night, it’s a great fishing spot, I hear 🙂 They also offer paddle board, kayak, bike and various game rentals.

You can’t go wrong taking a trip to Siesta Key, I promise!
