A Well Balanced Weekend

Sometimes you just need one of those weekends that are the perfect balance of relaxation and productivity. If you’re like me, and most people I know, you get in the habit of cramming so many plans into the weekend that you’re exhausted come Monday morning, sitting at your desk on your third cup of coffee, wishing you took a little more me time on your “days off”. After our busy weekend last week at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival, I really needed to catch up on errands and house work and give myself a little break.

Friday Night, I caught up on Fall TV. As soon as I got home from work it was sweatpants, bed and DVR time. Let me just say, I love pretty much every show that ABC creates (especially that genius, Shonda). My favorite show on television right now is probably Nashville, I’m sooo excited that it’s back on, the music on it is amazing! And of course, #TGIT is the best, but I just can’t get used to McDreamy not being around Grey’s. It’s not the same. I’m also liking the new Blood & Oil. Chase Crawford? Yes, please! And I’m trying Scream Queens on Fox, because I’m a fan of Lea Michelle and Emma Roberts, but I’m not sure how I feel about it yet.

Saturday, my first Birchbox came. I’ve been waiting patiently anxiously and I was super excited! Kona barked when the mailman dropped it off so I ran outside practically jumping up and down. Needless to say, our mailman thinks I’m a little nuts…but I can’t wait to try all my goodies!

Then, we went shopping. Jeff and our friend Dave agreed to accompany me on an IKEA trip, which was the highlight of my day. I could spend hours upon hours in there but I controlled myself. I did get a couple of things for the house that I’ve been wanting and the guys did all the heavy lifting for me. Later, I ditched them for an ULTA trip and clothes shopping, which is my favorite kind of therapy.

The best purchase decision of the day was buying Scotch this puppy prison playpen. It’s making life much easier without him having to be in the crate all day. Without it, he insists on getting into anything and everything. Jeff claims that Kona was just as bad in her puppy stage, but I swear she slept and cuddled all day, everyday. I may be biased, but I think boys are just more difficult.

On Sunday, I went wild and tried the new Toasted Graham Latte at Starbucks on my way to the grocery store. I was impressed, most of their specialty drinks are too sweet for me but this one was quite good. The PSL still has my heart, though. It wasn’t that  good.

I took advantage of the cooler weather and put together a cozy beef stew for dinner. I spent most of the rest of the day cleaning and organizing while it cooked in the crockpot, making the house smell delicious. I’ll be sharing the recipe later this week!

All in all, it was the perfect low key weekend. Here’s to a great week!
