All I want for Christmas is…

A clone machine.

I can be a people-pleaser. And I have a slight case of FOMO. This can cause me to want to spend all the time with all the people, especially around the holidays. Sadly, I cannot be in two places at once. Even though, I really, really want to.

Jeff and I are blessed with two big, amazing, loving families. Both of which live close by, at least close enough where we don’t travel far for holidays. We split time. It’s wonderful and exhausting at the same time. I think one of the most difficult challenges we’ve faced in our relationship is balancing time with family for the holidays. This will be our 5th Christmas together, going to 3 houses on Christmas Day and it never gets easier to feel like you’re leaving one place early and getting to another late or that your missing time with someone.

I tend to get pretty anxious around this time every year, as we discuss our hour by hour game plan for Christmas day. I want to see all our loved ones, I want to be fair with my time and I don’t want to miss a thing. It can be stressful.

But then I just remember how great it is that we have so many people in our lives who want to see us and love on us. I think about how grateful I am to have a partner who values family as much as do. I’m so thankful that his family has accepted me and love me as their own.

So I’ll cherish everyone moment this season. Every smile, every laugh, every hug, every gift. I’ll treat every good-bye of the day as on opportunity to give thanks for all of these terrific people in our lives. Because these crazy, beautiful people we call our families mean the world to me.

And maybe one day I’ll get that cloning machine…or we can all have one giant, whole world Christmas that everyone is invited to! And let’s just add world peace to that. Just a few, simple Christmas wishes, right? A girl can dream!

Do you celebrate multiple Christmases? How do you balance it all?
