October Birchbox Review

I technically got two Birchboxes in October since I subscribed in late September and my September box didn’t come until the first week of October. My first box was pretty good but this one definitely topped it!

Here are the products I got in my October Birchbox:

Darphin STIMULSKIN PLUS Multi-Corrective Divine Cream – Dry Skin  -$295

Verdict: Will Not Buy

This was a thick and creamy moisturizer that went on my skin like butter. It was a decent sample size and I’m happy that I got to try it. It made my skin feel hydrated and soft but there was nothing “divine” or magical about that would make me consider paying that price. It also has a sort of chemical-like smell that I didn’t like.

Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Foundation Primer – $36

Verdict: Will Buy

I knew I could expect good results from Smashbox and I really liked this primer! I have never branched away from my BareMinerals primer but after sampling this one I think I am going to make the switch. It dried really quickly and I felt like my makeup lasted much longer when I used it.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief – $39

Verdict: Would Buy

This was my first time using a gel moisturizer and I did like it. It went on very smooth and dried pretty quickly. It was light enough to wear during the day under my makeup. I would purchase this, especially if my face was going through a particularly dry spell.

Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm – $17

Verdict: Will Buy

I’m officially hooked on Chubby Sticks. They are super moisturizing with a lot of color. Perfect for everyday wear! I loved that I got a regular size as a “sample” for this one. I got the color Mega Melon which is a little bright for Fall but looks good with my skin tone so I’m still a happy camper on this one!

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Synchronized Complex II – $65

Verdict: Probably Won’t Buy

The jury’s still out on this product. It was my first experience with eye serum instead of cream which I was excited about. I liked the texture and quickly realized how little product you have to use but it never really felt like it dried and made my under eye area feel kind of oily. I also didn’t see any drastic effects but may need to use it longer. I think I need to experiment with a few other eye serums to make a purchase decision on this one.

Overall, this was great box! At this point, I’m really happy with my decision to subscribe to Birchbox. If you would like to sign up for Birchbox via my referral link click here!

I went with Game Face Estee Lauder Guest Editor box in October and loved everything in it!! I would have love to try the Darphin cream (although I won’t drop $300 for it ?!!) and Estee Lauder eye serum is awesome on my dry skin around my eyes!

    • I had a hard time choosing between the two boxes for October because they both seemed so great! But I didn’t love the Darphin at all.
